Places to go: iLight Marinabay 2012 Report

Mdm Cheapo took a relaxing walk last night on a Friday evening after dinner along Marina Bay to check out iLightMarinaBay2012. It was well worth the trip! It is good 1.5 hours walk, good exercise by the bay with very interesting light installations. It was an eye-opener! *so exciting* I really thought it would be boring and really went to collect my Free Mystery Gift ($20). They extended the collection of the gift from 27th March to 1st April. So if you have not collected before 27th you can still do it.  


A definitely MUST -GO! If you have not planned anything for the evening today, plan to be at Marina Bay! The festival ends 1st April !!! And there's Free KungFu Panda Screening tonight at 8-10pm!

Mdm Cheapo gets in the "atas" mood rom time to time and enjoys the out of ordinary arty, farty activities. Of course, free is an essential. Introducing the iLight Marinabay 2012. Ends on April 1st (no this is not a joke). 

There are free guided tours on Fri, Sat & Sun at 3 different timings (7.30pm, 8.30pm & 9.30pm), you would need to register ahead of time. There's even free Nescafe coffee and free light painting by Lumix (whatever that means) on weekends!

 Mdm Cheapo is well cheapo so a cheapo is at the mercy of the public transport. Well NUS came up with a reward system to attempt to change travel patterns through a reward system for travelling. You get more points for travelling during off peak and points are used for cash rewards back to your ez link card. Signing up is free and subjected to them reviewing your travel pattern for a week and then MAY accept you. 

They even have a facebook page which I MAY consider "liking" if they accept me/anyone in my family. Yes, Mdm Cheapo signed up for the whole family, why wouldn't I?

I highly suspect they will accept the morning working class who typically travels from 7.30-8.30am.

Places To Go: Meiji Factory Outlet - 20% Off

Here's the first post for the series "Places To Go"

Mdm Cheapo decided to start exploring places to go to for good deals. Some would require a little travelling. 

The first place is Meiji Factory Outlet!The place was NOT easy to find even with a GPS. I missed a few times as I was expecting to see the great big white Meiji factory building shown on the website. BAD idea. As I have found out, after missing the place like 3 times... The entrance was a slope down to the building so you would not have been able to see the building from the road driving by. Dammit!

It was fun, although a very short trip. The store was like a small convenience store. (I admit i was a little disappointed by the size of the place.) I think i'm used to Megastores now. However, i was pleasantly surprised by the variety of products that I have never seen in my life. at first glance, the prices weren't cheap they were the same as the supermarts. Then i realized the 20% discount was taken at the register. So my spirits lifted and I started buying... ... ... The on bargain stuff (near to expiry in a couple of months) was strategically placed along the queue. The prices are unbelievable, 2 packs for $1.50, buy 2 get 1 free... I could not resist! 

Damages done $100+. 

A word of caution, the bargain stuff were very unfamiliar/novel snacks, best NOT to buy them in bulk as you might to take to the taste. I had some hits and some misses on this. 

Oh well, can't wait for another Fri that i might have time to head down there. 12pm-3pm.
